Fine Art students find inspiration around Barcelona

In preparation for the Externally Set Assignment (ESA) on the theme of Lock, this year’s Form 5 GCSE Fine Art students enjoyed finding inspiration for their exam project by visiting galleries around Barcelona this month.

Students visited The Modern Contemporary (Moco) Museum where they found a diverse range of inspiring and enlightening contemporary art such as Kehinde Wiley and Banksy. The day then continued on to El Born and Poblenou to visit the Can Framis museum, the latest Fundacio Vila Casas museum.

Students had the opportunity to view and analyse a collection of over 200 of the most outstanding Catalan paintings from the mid-20th century to the present day. Students enjoyed making connections between different artworks on display, by artists of different tendencies and generations such as Jaume Plensa, Lita Cabelut, Rafael G. Bianchi and Antoni Tapies.
