Ulimate Frisbee at Castelldefels

Kensington’ s participation in the opening tournament of the Ultimate Frisbee School League at Castelldefels beach
looked very much in danger, with Mr Vanderheyden unable to attend due to injury and many players unavailable.
However a hardy group of students, led wonderfully in the role of “substitute coach” by F5′ s Barzin, made sure our school was well-represented. Kensington’s U16 team, consisting of eleven players ranging from J6-L6 – rose to the challenge, winning two of their three matches against Monstertsunami and INS Vallès. Ulimate Frisbee at

That day, the ethos of Ultimate Frisbee, a non-contact, self-refereed sport where the final score is based on both the goals scored and the attitude and sportsmanship of the players – was truly reflected in the Kensington team. Despite
the differences in age and abilities, all players were given the chance to participate and the team’s support from
the sidelines was heartwarming. For a group of players who had few opportunities to train together and were
missing their coach, their team spirit, motivation and dedication to our school’s  only sports team was truly inspiring.

Congratulations Kensington U16 Team – you were a wonderful representation of the values of our school and a force to be reckoned with in the Ultimate School League.
