Our EYFS and Key Stage 1 children recently enjoyed a wonderful day immersed in nature at the beautiful Bordas Garden Centre in Gavà. With sunshine, fresh air, and plenty of space to explore, it was the perfect setting for a hands-on learning adventure.

The children took part in an exciting planting activity, where they carefully potted their own petunia plants. Step by step, they learned how to prepare a pot, starting with bark for drainage, adding stones, and finishing with soil before gently placing their plant inside. It was fantastic to see the concentration and pride in their work!

The children also explored a variety of garden herbs, using their senses to smell, touch, and even taste them. There was plenty of energy too, as they happily jogged through rows of shrubs, enjoying the freedom of the outdoor environment.

In the allotment area, the children embraced nature even further by taking off their shoes and socks to feel the grass and soil between their toes. They worked together to clear out old cabbages before planting fresh strawberries and lettuce, learning about growth, care, and responsibility along the way.

It was a truly memorable day filled with discovery and teamwork, bringing learning to life in a natural environment.
