The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch

Junior 2 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Sant Cristòfol Lighthouse in Vilanova.
In their English lessons, the children loved listening to The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch by Ronda and David Armitage,
along with other stories from the series.

They even wrote letters to Mr. Grinling, the lighthouse keeper himself, offering clever ideas for how he could outsmart those pesky seagulls!

During a guided tour of the harbour, the students watched a retired fisherman repairing his nets and saw fishing boats
equipped with lamps used to catch sardines at night. By coincidence, while learning about the pots and traps used
to catch octopuses, a fishing boat returned to port with a large haul!

The children also discovered how trawler fishing works and learned about the different types of fish found in the waters around Vilanova. To top it all off, they were even lucky enough to see inside the fish auction room!
