Form 5 Geography Field Trip to Sitges

As part of their GCSE Geography coursework, Form 5 students recently took part in a field trip to Sitges, providing them with the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting.

During the visit, students explored the local coastal environment and examined how human activity interacts with natural coastal processes. The trip focused on a detailed coastal study, where students investigated the effects of coastal management strategies along this stretch of coastline.

By carrying out fieldwork on the beach, students were able to collect primary data, observe different management techniques in action, and assess their impact on erosion, deposition, and coastal sustainability. This hands-on experience forms an essential component of their GCSE coursework and helps to develop key geographical skills such as data collection, analysis, and evaluation.

The field trip was both an educational and engaging experience, reinforcing students’ understanding of coastal environments while supporting their exam preparation.
