Senior School

In the Senior School Kensington School follows the National British Curriculum of England and Wales with small modifications to take into account our international context.

The broad and balanced Key Stage 3 (Forms 1, 2 & 3) curriculum includes Art, Drama, English, French, Games, General Science, Geography, History, Computer Science, Music, PSHE Education, Physical Education and Spanish. Although most subjects are taught in mixed ability class groups, progress in Spanish and French is best achieved in small sets of around 10 in a group.

Students are entered at the age of 16 for the external iGCSE/GCSE public examination of the Edexcel Examinations Board, of which Kensington School is a recognised ‘Edexcel Centre for Learning’.

Normally exams in nine subjects are taken from a choice which currently includes Biology, Chemistry, English Language (First Language or Additional Language), English Literature, French, Geography, History, Art, Mathematics, Physics and Spanish. Occasionally students will prepare themselves for exams in their mother language since such qualifications are accepted by some universities and colleges.

Senior School students attend weekly assembly which often focuses on moral or contemporary issues. Topics covered in PSHE are often emphasised in assembly. It is common for pupils to lead assemblies as a way of encouraging their public speaking and presentational skills.

Art and Design

Art and Design is an essential part of all societies and cultures and here at Kensington School we believe it is a vital part of the development of students, strengthening their ability to think, express, communicate and critically analyse in an increasingly visual world.

The Art and Design department is an innovative, forward thinking department which aims to harness our student’s creativity and motivation in becoming skilled artists and appreciators of art.

 

Key Stage 3

The Art and Design Curriculum is designed to teach a wide variety of practical skills within the context of historical and contemporary artists, movements and designers. All aspects of Art and Design are incorporated during the 3 year course, including drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art, photography, textiles and sculpture. Each year of the course builds up skills and understanding of the subject through exciting and relevant projects. In addition to technical skills, students learn how to improve visual literacy through research and analysis of their own and others artworks. Our curriculum is enhanced by our unique location in Barcelona. We take full advantage of this cultural setting by incorporating regular educational visits to museums, galleries, and architectural landmarks to study the work of influential Spanish and Catalan artists, designers and architects such as Gaudi, Dali and Miró. The KS3 Art and Design Curriculum lays the groundwork for further creative study, fostering both the technical and conceptual skills needed to succeed at GCSE level and beyond.

 

Key Stage 4

In line with the 1-9 specification, students have the option of studying GCSE Art and Design (Fine Art). The course consists of two internally assessed and externally moderated components. Component 1: Personal Portfolio (worth 60% of the final GCSE grade) and Component 2: Externally Set Assignment (worth 40% of the final GCSE grade). Students will begin their GCSE coursework by developing their technical skills through thematic projects which allow for increasingly personal practice. This means that students are able to express themselves as individuals and focus on areas of interest, whilst gaining a broad and balanced range of skills. The students will explore the work of exciting artists, experiment with a wide range of media and techniques, and record their ideas effectively. The GCSE is a rigorous qualification that demonstrates the candidate’s ability to think independently, formulate and communicate coherent ideas, research and analyse, and evaluate and refine their practice. In April of F5, students will sit their art exam, which is 10 hours long. This will involve 2 full days working on their exam project final piece under supervised exam conditions in the art department. Homework is a vital part of the GCSE course. Students will be expected to spend at least 1 hour a week on this work. A positive homework routine is essential.

 

Sixth Form

The two-year A Level Fine Art course allows students opportunities to generate and develop ideas, research primary and contextual sources, record practical and written observations, experiment with media and processes, and refine ideas towards producing personal resolved outcome(s). In the Lower 6th, students begin skill based workshops, along with in-depth contextual artist analysis. Students pursue independent lines of investigation, and will be expected to visit art galleries and museums to inform the contextual element of the course. The skills based workshops continue until February of the Lower 6th and students then begin their Component 1 Personal Investigation which lasts into the Upper 6th.

 

Upper Sixth

Component 1 Personal Investigation – Students are required to conduct a practical investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The investigation should be an in-depth study that demonstrates the student’s ability to produce a sustained investigation from a starting point to a final realisation. Component 2: The Externally Set Assignment is released on 1 February and contains a theme and suggested starting points. Following the preparatory time, students complete a 15–hours period of sustained focus under examination conditions in May, to produce their final outcome(s), informed by their preparatory work.

Students should have a strong interest and enthusiasm for Art and be open to exploring a range of ideas and experiences. There is a written element to the course thus literacy skills are beneficial.

Biology

Biology is a vibrant and ever-evolving science that helps us understand the human body and the vast diversity of life around us. It offers evidence-based explanations for the natural world, making it both relevant and engaging.

In the classroom, Biology comes alive through hands-on investigations, engaging animations, video clips, and interactive tasks. Students explore the incredible variety of living organisms, discover how organ systems function and interact, and develop a deeper awareness of environmental challenges and the importance of sustainability.

 

Key Stage 4

All students in Forms 4 and 5 follow the IGCSE Biology curriculum. The course begins by reinforcing core biological principles, such as cell structure and the role of biological molecules. These foundations support further exploration of complex body systems, including the circulatory and digestive systems, as well as key processes like excretion and nervous system function. Students also study plant life and environmental biology, developing an understanding of ecosystems and the need to protect them.

In addition to learning key biology concepts, students are supported to become more independent learners and to explore various strategies for managing, understanding and retaining the content. They also develop essential practical skills, such as following instructions, selecting appropriate equipment, and accurately reading measurement scales.

 

Sixth Form

A Level Biology is a natural next step for students who have shown a strong aptitude and passion for the subject at IGCSE. While academically demanding, the course offers an enriching experience through in-depth study and the development of advanced analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills. Successful A Level Biology students typically demonstrate strong abilities in both maths and literacy, along with excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to independent learning.

Students delve into topics such as photosynthesis at the biochemical level, the immune system, and brain function. Practical work is integral to the course and includes both laboratory investigations and fieldwork, ranging from antibiotic testing to studying learning in snails. These activities reinforce theoretical knowledge and develop essential scientific skills. Studying A Level Biology is an excellent way to build valuable skills that are highly transferable across a wide range of university courses and career paths.

Chemistry

Every aspect of science is essential for the development of the technological world. The aim of the Chemistry Department is to equip all students with a grasp of scientific literacy so our young adults can make informed everyday decisions in order to achieve success.

Chemistry uses several complementary disciplines, such as technology and mathematics to carry out its functions. The combination of Chemistry with technology enhances quality of life by expanding knowledge of and access to various physical and biological resources.

 

Key Stage 4

Pupils in Forms 4 and 5 cover the IGCSE Chemistry course, this introduces the core aspects of Chemistry in order to provide pupils with the appropriate insight necessary to achieve their targets in the subject. The main disciplines are the principles of Chemistry, the elements as well as both organic and physical Chemistry and the role played by Chemistry in society. The practical element of the subject is crucial for a thorough understanding. Our laboratories are equipped to allow pupils to attain the practical skills that are so intrinsic to this subject.

 

Sixth Form

The A Level course extends the topics covered in the IGCSE. New branches of Chemistry are introduced. The practical aspect of the subject also becomes much more relevant. The topics covered include amongst others atomic structure, the periodic table, formulae and equations, kinetics and organic chemistry.

As well as delivering the chemistry concepts mentioned above, students develop a range of skills by completing sixteen ‘Core Practicals’ which focus on relevant investigative skills, the scientific community, the use of models, the development of explanations and arguments and the evaluation of scientific work. ‘Core Practical Skills’ are continually assessed throughout the course and students are given verbal and written feedback in relation to strengths, weaknesses and focus for improvement.

The subject is treated in a much more quantitative manner than in the IGCSE course. So, precise and agile arithmetic skills are, along with the aptitudes of a scientific mind very valuable tools in the course.

Computer Science

At Kensington, we nurture students’ natural curiosity about technology by offering Computing from Early Years through to GCSE. As technology plays an increasingly central role in our lives, we believe in equipping students with the knowledge and skills to safely navigate, understand, and contribute to the digital world.

 

Key Stage 3

Students build a strong foundation in digital literacy and computational thinking. They develop essential skills in Office applications, explore networking concepts, and begin to understand algorithms and problem-solving processes. Programming is introduced through visual tools such as Scratch, before progressing to text-based languages like Python. This transition helps students grasp key programming principles, enabling them to design their own programs, games, and solutions. Alongside this, students explore web development through HTML and CSS, gaining experience in creating interactive websites.

By the end of Key Stage 3, students have developed the resilience to debug code and a solid understanding of core computing concepts. They are then able to choose Computer Science as a GCSE option. This academically rigorous course balances theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students write programs from scratch, deepen their understanding of computer systems, and learn how technology underpins and impacts modern life.

 

Key Stage 4

The GCSE course equips students with problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and technical confidence – all of which are increasingly valued across many industries and career paths.

EAL

English language underpins every mainstream subject, giving the EAL department a unique role in supporting pupils’ academic goals.

Lessons are provided on a needs basis in small groups, allowing lessons to be tailored to the specific language requirements of individual students. With that in mind, EAL support is provided for students from different language backgrounds who have limited experience of using English in an educational setting who benefit from additional language support.

English

The English department at Kensington School is dynamic, creative and fun. Our interactive classes embody our belief in the importance of communication and discussion: students can regularly be seen in frank debate using the choicest vocabulary, or exploring together the ideas underpinning the most influential texts written in English across the centuries. Literature helps explore and analyse some of life’s greatest questions and assists young people in gaining the skills required for a deeper thought process to life.

 

Key Stage 3

The emphasis within this key stage is on encouraging pupils to read as widely as possible, and on developing a love and understanding of books and words. Each year group studies a novel in the autumn term and visits to our library are made on a regular basis to encourage independent reading. Throughout the Key Stage 3 curriculum students are exposed to a range of different writing styles and literary genres, while simultaneously developing the critical-thinking skills that are vital for success in life. There is plenty of opportunity for the creative juices to flow in short-story, speech and travel writing and the crafting of poetry, with time also dedicated to working on technical grammatical accuracy.

 

Key Stage 4

Teaching groups in Forms 4 and 5 have low teacher/pupil ratios. All students prepare for two IGCSE level qualifications: Literature and Language. At this level, the focus of the work is predominantly on textual analysis; the skills involved in literary criticism are developed and honed during these years. Students study a range of classic texts for their literature exams, ranging from the gritty realism of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men to Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. For their language exams, students practise reading critically from a range of non-fiction texts. They learn to write creatively and professionally as they develop both their narrative, descriptive and discursive writing skills.

 

Sixth Form

Due to even smaller class sizes, Sixth Form lessons are virtually seminar based. We offer A-Level English Literature, which is divided into modules on prose texts, poetry, and drama. Here, there is a strong focus on comparing texts, and on relating these to their contexts. Pupils learn the basics of Critical Theory and begin to approach texts through different lenses, learning about the various philosophical ideas that inform literary criticism. Students study a broad range of texts from different genres and eras – from Shakespeare to Victorian verse to modern drama.

French

The French Department at Kensington School is a strong department with many years of experience in the teaching of French as a second language.

It is a dynamic department and encourages students to learn about French society, culture and traditions. It is formed by two French native speakers who are fully qualified teachers and have experience in the British educational system.

 

Key Stage 3

Pupils in Form 1 expand upon the learning undertaken in the final year of Junior School. In Forms 1, 2 and 3, we tailor the learning of French to our students’ needs by splitting the class in two groups. .We encourage our students to read in French, watch series or films or to go on linguistic trips to French-speaking countries, these being organised each year by the department.

 

Key Stage 4

In Form 4 and 5, French is part of the options system for GCSE. The class sizes are small and allow the students to get all the attention they need from their teachers as well as having the opportunity to develop their speaking skills. Pupils in Form 5 will learn a variety of skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. All of these are assessed separately and will contribute to the final grade awarded. Emphasis is placed on the practical elements of the French Language, and specific focus on areas such as ‘Health and Lifestyle’ ,’Home and Abroad ‘ or ‘Education’. It is hoped that the GCSE course will provide the necessary incentive for pupils to consider taking the subject at ‘A’ level in the Sixth Form.

 

Sixth Form

A Level students will develop their knowledge of the subject and use a variety of techniques necessary to ensure good communication skills, and the confidence to express facts and ideas in the written form. We prepare students for IAL French. There are 4 modules, each one covering different topic areas, one of them being a French historical period. 2 modules prepare the students for an oral exam.

History

History provides identity and shows students models of good and responsible behaviour, as well as teaching them how to learn from the mistakes of others. History helps us understand how society can change and develop

History is a popular subject, offering much to the personal and academic development of our students. The syllabus is designed to instil a strong understanding of chronology – the sequence of historical events – whilst at the same time allowing students to explore a range of topics that are international in scope.

Key Stage 3

Students begin their studies in Iron Age Britain and move through the Roman conquests to explore European history. They then move around the world by learning about topics including the Aztec and Inca empires, African kingdoms before and after the trans-Atlantic slave trade and the Islamic civilizations of the Near East from the time of their early development.

Even more important than the topics studied are the key skills that are developed during this period of study; the ability to read and write at speed, to produce well-reasoned and balanced arguments and the ability to debate issues orally with confidence to name but a few.

 

Key Stage 4

Students follow the IGCSE History specification which covers a range of modern historical topics that are international in scope; the Causes and Course of the First World War, 1905-18, the Cold War 1943-72, Germany 1918-45 and the Middle East 1917-2012. These are fascinating topics that help to develop our students’ understanding of the world that we live in today and are topics that complement each other well in order to maximize success when they are examined at the end of the second year of study.

 

Sixth Form

At A level, students build on the strong foundations that are laid at IGCSE by broadening and deepening their understanding of 20th century history. Students follow the International A level syllabus and learn about all aspects of life in Britain between 1964-90 as well as the history of the Soviet Union between the years 1917-91. In the Upper Sixth, students carry out a detailed investigation into the early history of the United States of America from 1763-1865. As well as this, they study the development of international tension between 1879-1945 and its impact in shaping the modern world.

Geography

Geography at Kensington School equips students with a broad foundation of geographical knowledge, skills, and processes that are progressively developed to enhance their understanding of the world at local, national, and global levels.

Key Stage 3

Pupils in Forms 1 to 3 follow a bespoke geography curriculum, based on the UK National Curriculum and adapted to suit the needs of our international student community. The programme covers a range of physical geography topics, including weather and climate, tectonic activity, coastal processes, and the relationship between resources and the environment. In addition, students explore key areas of human geography such as economic activity, urbanisation, international development, and global issues.

 

Key Stage 4

In Forms 4 and 5, students follow the Edexcel IGCSE Geography (9–1) specification. This engaging course explores a range of contemporary and dynamic topics, including hazardous and coastal environments, economic activity and energy, urban environments, and fragile ecosystems. Lessons are often linked to real-world events, helping students connect theory with current global issues. The course places strong emphasis on developing key geographical skills essential for further study at IAL level. As part of the programme, students also carry out both urban and coastal fieldwork, allowing them to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.

 

Sixth Form

In the first year of Sixth Form, students study two units of the IAL Geography course: Global Challenges and Geographical Investigations. These are assessed through two external examinations at the end of Lower Sixth. Global Challenges explores the causes, impacts, and management of major global issues. ‘Geographical Investigations’ focuses on crowded coasts, along with urban challenges such as planning and regeneration. A key element of this unit is urban fieldwork, with students completing a two-day field study in Barcelona.

In the second year, students continue with two further units: Contested Planet and Researching Geography. Contested Planet covers a range of current and relevant topics, including atmospheric and weather systems, biodiversity under threat, water security, and efforts to bridge the development gap. Researching Geography involves an independent investigation centred on tectonic activity and natural hazards. Both units are assessed through external examinations at the end of Upper Sixth and provide excellent preparation for the demands of university-level study.

Mathematics

Mathematics is a creative and rigorous discipline with its own unique language. It transcends cultural boundaries and its importance is universally acknowledged.The department has a strong record of high achievement in public examinations, both at IGCSE and Advanced levels.

Maths helps us think analytically and have better reasoning abilities. Certain qualities that are nurtured by Mathematics are power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills.

 

Key Stage 3

The main objective is to consolidate, and to build upon, the basics of the subject already studied. Pupils are encouraged to think for themselves and to acquire an exploring approach to their work, while at the same time, ensuring all the fundamental concepts, old and new, have been thoroughly understood before starting their GCSE in Form 4. All pupils cover the same syllabus topics but depth and pace may vary for a minority of weaker pupils, depending on the nature of the group and the judgement of the teacher.

 

Key Stage 4

Forms 4 and 5 are usually divided into two sets: a main set, and a smaller set for the pupils who benefit from more individual attention. All pupils are normally entered for the IGCSE Higher Tier examination; a rigorous exam consisting of two 2 hour papers. The content is divided into six sections:

  • Numbers and the number system
  • Equations, formulas and identities
  • Sequences, functions and graphs
  • Geometry and trigonometry
  • Vectors and transformations

The assessments place a high emphasis on problem solving and mathematical reasoning skills ensuring students finish their Key Stage 4 studies with a level of confidence and fluency that provides a solid foundation for the rest of their learning and working lives.

 

Sixth Form

Mathematics is a very popular choice in the Sixth Form where students study Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics. It is a demanding course and only suitable for students who achieve a level 7 in their maths GCSE. Students who wish to enter the course without a GCSE will be required to sit an entrance exam. All students are entered for the AS level exam at the end of the Lower Sixth and the majority continue to take the full A level at the end of the Upper Sixth.

We also offer the challenging Further Mathematics A Level, which is for confident and high attaining maths students who wish to double the amount of maths studied at A Level. We expect students who study this course to have obtained a level 9 or high level 8 at GCSE maths. This can be a very useful A Level to take for those wishing to go on to study Pure Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics or other maths-heavy degrees – especially if students intend to go to a university in the United Kingdom. The course is split into 3 modules, Core Pure, Further Mechanics 1 and Further Pure 1.

Music

Music is a unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. Throughout the year, pupils will acquire the skills to adapt their own musical ideas and refine and improve their own and other’s work.

Music forms part of every individual’s identity. Positive interaction with music can develop students competence as learners and increase their self-esteem. It brings together intellect, reflection and emotional development as well as reflection and emotional development.

 

Key Stage 3

There are a variety of key concepts that underpin the study of music. These include the integration of practice; developing knowledge, skills and understanding through the integration of performing, composing and listening, a cultural understanding of music, creativity and a theoretical knowledge so as to advance their ability to perform when given a musical piece.


Pupils should also be able to: perform with control of instrument specific techniques and musical expression practice, rehearse and perform with awareness of the different parts and improvise, explore and develop musical ideas when performing. Pupils will also learn the skills necessary to communicate ideas and feelings about music using expressive language and musical vocabulary to justify their opinions. Study of the history of music, from traditional to classical to contemporary will help students to contextualise techniques which they have learned

Technical skills are tackled too, and emphasis is placed on pupils being familiar with pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture and silence. In addition to this, pupils will be expected to grow in confidence when dealing with major and minor keys, atonality, modulation and different types of scales.

PE

Exercise helps children gain confidence in what they can do and enables them to feel the positive benefits of being healthy and active as well as developing a positive sense of well being

 

Key Stage 3

A wide variety of sports and activities are offered, as pupils at this Key Stage have 3 lessons per week. For example: football, basketball, handball, tchoukball, hockey, ultimate frisbee, gymnastics, rope skipping, fitness, athletics, softball, cricket, volleyball, beach tennis, and swimming. Pupils refine and adapt existing skills and implement strategies. They are encouraged to take initiative to analyse their own and others’ performance and use this to improve its quality.

 

Key Stage 4

Pupils participate in competitive invasion, net, and striking & fielding games, using advanced techniques and skills specific to each game with consistency and control. In athletics, pupils use advanced techniques with precision, speed, power, stamina, and technical proficiency. Pupils have 1 double PE lesson per week at the L’Hospitalet Nord Sporting Complex.

 

Senior School

In the Autumn Term, all Senior School pupils take part in a Team Sports Day (House Games) at school, competing in invasion games within their house teams. In the Spring Term, pupils participate in an Athletics Sports Day at the L’Hospitalet Nord Sporting Complex, competing in track and field events, tug of war, and additional activities.

Physics

Physics is the science that seeks to understand the fundamental principles behind the workings of the universe. From the tiniest subatomic particles to the vast structures of galaxies, it provides a framework for explaining the natural world through observation, experimentation, and mathematical reasoning.

 

Key Stage 4

In Forms 4 and 5, students follow the Edexcel IGCSE Physics course, which deepens their understanding of topics such as motion and forces, electricity, waves, energy transfers, matter, magnetism, radioactivity, and space physics. They also learn to apply these ideas in practical contexts and develop key skills in data analysis, experimental design, and evaluation. The course is designed to provide a good preview of the diversity of topics covered in further physics studies and helps students begin to see the connections between physics and real-world applications.

 

Sixth Form

A Level Physics is a challenging option in the Sixth Form, suited to students who enjoy problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and exploring how things work. The course includes a wide range of topics, from mechanics, materials, and electric circuits to quantum physics, fields, thermodynamics, and astrophysics. Practical work is a core component, and students are encouraged to work independently and collaboratively to investigate and interpret physical phenomena.
Students are given many opportunities for enrichment beyond the classroom. These include participation in Physics Olympiads, end-of-year investigative projects at the end of Lower Sixth, and student-led presentations on exciting applications of physics beyond the A Level syllabus. These activities help students broaden their horizons, develop confidence, and apply their learning in creative and challenging ways.

Physics is highly valued by universities and employers for the transferable skills it develops – logical thinking, quantitative analysis, modelling of real-world phenomena, and clear communication of complex ideas. Whether students go on to careers in engineering, medicine, computing, finance, the social sciences, or scientific research, a background in physics equips them with powerful tools to make a real impact.

Science

Key Stage 3 Science

Science is the gateway to understanding our world and shaping our future. Our Key Stage 3 Science programme transforms curious minds into confident scientific thinkers, equipped with the knowledge and skills to tackle tomorrow’s challenges.

Students embark on an exciting journey through the interconnected disciplines of biology, chemistry, and physics. They explore the intricate workings of living organisms—from microscopic cells to complex ecosystems—discover how matter behaves at the atomic level, and investigate the fundamental forces that govern our universe. Key topics include human biology and health, photosynthesis and respiration, chemical reactions and the periodic table, energy transfers, electricity, waves, and space physics.

What sets our approach apart is our commitment to authentic scientific inquiry. Students don’t just learn about science—they become scientists. Through carefully designed investigations, they develop critical thinking skills, learn to formulate hypotheses, collect and analyse data, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Spanish

Key Stage 3

Pupils in Forms 1, 2 and 3 are divided into two levels: Spanish for Native Speakers and Spanish as a Second language, giving both groups the opportunity to develop their language skills according to their level.
Every year, we organise a series of Theatre trips where we learn about a Spanish author and their work. These authors include, Federico García Lorca, Miguel de Cervantes, Miguel Mihura, Antonio Buero Vallejo.. Students are encouraged to read as much and as widely as possible, developing a love and understanding of literature throughout each academic year.

 

Key Stage 4

Students who demonstrate an excellent level of Spanish undertake the IGCSE examination in Form 4, thereby reducing their academic workload in Form 5. These students also engage in the study of literary works by renowned authors, such as the acclaimed novel Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, they have the opportunity to do its literary route.

Students who have not yet attained the required level to sit the IGCSE in Form 4 follow a two-year preparation programme and take the exam at the end of Form 5. This is designed to develop the four skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading. The aim is to consolidate a solid foundation that enables them to communicate effectively and independently at B1 level.

 

Sixth Form

In Lower Sixth, students prepare for the IAS modules and take the exam at the end of the academic year. They work on the topics: Youth Matters, Lifestyle, Health and Fitness, Education and Employment, and Environment and Travel. Students also carry out research on aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture related to these topics.

In Upper Sixth, students explore more complex topics such as Equality, Migration, Politics, and Customs, and study and analyse a historical period, the Spanish Transition to Democracy, as well as a Spanish film entitled Ocho apellidos vascos. Students will be able to write a critical and analytical essay by the end of the year.

Students also practise a variety of debate topics in order to be well prepared for their oral examination.

Catalan

The Catalan programme at Kensington School was launched in September 2023 to support Spanish nationals, including students with dual nationality and those returning to Spain after studying abroad.

Our dedicated team of four native teachers brings extensive experience in both the local and British education systems. They specialise in teaching Catalan language and literature, as well as history and geography, ensuring students receive a well-rounded and culturally relevant education.

From Form 1 to Form 5, students continue studying Catalan, along with geography and history taught in Catalan. Small class sizes enable teachers to tailor their approach to meet individual learning needs, allowing students to progress at their own pace and strengthen their language skills according to their level.

Students who complete the Catalan Curriculum from Junior 2 to Form 5 will be eligible to convalidate their studies. Additionally, Senior School students who have followed the programme from Form 2 to Form 5 can convalidate their studies and receive the ESO certificate – pending confirmation.
