Ceramics at Studio 56

J1 students took part in a ceramic workshop at Studio 56, where they engaged in a creative and hands-on artistic experience. Each student designed and created their own flower bowl, drawing inspiration from the work of Yayoi Kusama.

Yayoi Kusama is a renowned Japanese artist, widely recognised for her use of bold colours, repetition, and her iconic polka dot patterns. Her work often explores themes of infinity, nature, and imagination, encouraging viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways.

Having prepared their designs in advance, the students were able to thoughtfully translate their ideas into clay, experimenting with pattern and form influenced by Kusama’s distinctive style. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills while fostering creativity and their own artistic expression.
