The Barcelona International Mathematics Competition (BIMC) is organised by the Benjamin Franklin International High School Math Club.
It aims to promote and encourage interest in mathematics, challenge students' problem-solving skills, and recognise excellence. Over 140 students took part in the competition, 15 of whom were from Kensington School.
There was an individual round, a group round, and a live podium round with spectators for which only the top achieving groups in the first two rounds qualified (only four teams from each age group). Both of our GCSE groups and one of our A Level group qualified for the podium round. Zhengyu came joint first for the individual prize for his age group.
Our GCSE group made up of Zhengyu, Suhas and Barzin finished second in the overall standings and the A Level group of Sebastian, Otto and Jee-Ho finished third in the overall standings.
