United Kingdom Maths Trust Challenge

A Level Maths students in the Sixth Form as well as the five highest scores from the 2021 Intermediate Challenge in Form 5 took part in the annual UKMT Senior Maths Challenge (2022).

The UK Mathematics Trust (UMST) was founded in 1996 and their charitable aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics.

They do this by working with hundreds of volunteers across the UK to organise competitions promoting problem solving and teamwork and other mathematical enrichment activities. Their biggest competitions are the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Challenge, that have over 700, 000 entries and are the UK’s most popular maths competition.

The Senior Mathematical Challenge is a 90-minute, multiple-choice challenge.

It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.

We eagerly look forward to the results to see how Kensington School students have done and will celebrate their success at the end of year assembly.
