Intermediate Maths Challenge

The Intermediate Maths Challenge organised by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust is aimed at students in Forms 3, 4 and 5. The challenge lasts 1 hour and has 25 questions designed to challenge and test the students’ problem-solving skills.

Nobody is expected to complete all questions but concentrate on those problems they find more interesting. Students lose marks if the more difficult questions are answered incorrectly.

Almost a quarter of a million children take the challenge in British Schools around the world, but mainly in the UK, with the top 50% achieving certificates.

  • Bronze Certificates are awarded to the top 50% students
  • Silver Certificates to the top 25% students
  • Gold certificates to the top 8%. students

All of our students in Forms 4 and 5 took the challenge along with some students in Form 3 who performed well in last year’s challenge. It is an excellent opportunity to do maths in an ‘exam’ environment without the pressure of the final exam result.

We are delighted that this year 19 of our students achieved certificates. Well done to them all, but especially Rebecca in Form 5 who achieved the very prestigious Gold certificate.

  • GOLD - Rebecca
  • SILVER – David, Yaphel, Olivia, Jee ho, Riko, Isaac, Joy
  • BRONZE – Sebastian, Sania, Anna, Chiara, Milan, Apple, Togzhan, Bogdan, Lucas, Teresa, Elsa
