In the Junior School we take a positive approach to behaviour and children are rewarded for their contributions to the school be they academic or of a generous and kind spirited act that helps promote our community based ethos.

We are proud to offer the full British curriculum starting from Early Years through to Junior 6 (ages 3 – 11) with an average class size of just 20 pupils. Catering for an international community, English is the predominant language that children and staff communicate in. This enables pupils to master the language quickly through both academic study and social interaction. We offer daily language development classes in small groups to further assist those with English as an additional language.

All children throughout Key Stages 1 and 2 are taught a full range of subjects by enthusiastic and experienced teachers. Mathematics and English are studied on a daily basis, and science, history and geography two to three times a week. Art, music and ICT are also timetabled and we are very proud of the contribution that Junior School pupils make through the variety of artwork on display throughout the school.

The Junior School is based within the main school building and our pupils benefit from enjoying all their learning on one site. The Junior School complements the Senior School well, in fact most of our pupils progress onto Form 1 and beyond and many are the siblings of pupils higher up in the school. As such, we are all part of the Kensington community and it is a pleasure to see pupils of all ages together within the school.

Whilst they share the grounds, the timetable for the Junior School allows for playtimes not to clash and use of the communal spaces takes into account the different age ranges within the school. Indeed, the Foundation Stage pupils have their own play area separate from other pupils. In addition to this, all classrooms enjoy the use of a patio terrace area and it is not uncommon for lessons or specific project work to be done outdoors.

The Junior School also holds a strong reputation for our theatrical productions, boasting previous successes such as ´The Lion King’, ‘Seussical’ and ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’. Our Christmas and Summer productions ensure children have the opportunity to develop their artistic talent and performance skills.

We look forward to expanding on these points and welcoming all parents and prospective parents to visit the school and see for themselves the friendly atmosphere that can be found in our Junior School classrooms.
