PORTLAND SCHOOL VISIT KENSINGTON

PONTELAND COMMUNITY MIDDLE SCHOOL VISIT KENSINGTON – TUESDAY 19th MAY.
As last year, the Ponteland Community Middle School from Newcastle visited Barcelona and Kensington School organised the ‘Barcelona Sports Tournament’ for them at L’Hospitalet Nord. 45 J6 pupils from Ponteland competed in 5 different sports: football, Ultimate Frisbee, pinfuvote, tug of war and 400m relay against our J5 and J6 pupils.
Form 3 students were in charge of leading the activities, organising the start times and getting the results to the PA.
By 14.00, everything was set up, the opening speeches made… it was time to start. However, at 14.01 it started to rain. At least our English guests would feel at home.
However, the rain didn’t stop anyone from putting full effort into all the activities. On the contrary it seemed to motivate them even more, especially in the tug of war which covered all involved in mud and was enjoyed by all. The rain eventually stopped but the level of effort never dropped.
The end scores were all very close together but it was a Ponteland team that eventually took the trophy home.
Many thanks to all Form 3 pupils who sacrificed their History and PE lessons to help out with this event and to Mr. Vanderheyden for organising another successful event. Thank you.
