On Tuesday 16th of April, Kensington School was happy to welcome Mr. Martin Phillips to the school. Mr. Phillips is the Chief Examiner for Edexcel (English Language) and was here to oversee the moderation of ‘The Spoken Language’ module of the GCSE course. Edexcel is the examinations board used by the school and of which we are a ‘Recognised Centre for Learning’. The visit involved our students being recorded on stage whilst debating contemporary issues, this being used as a means to assess their levels. The feedback from the Chief Examiner was extremely positive. He was greatly impressed by the standard of learning as well as the marking and assessment of our 2 English specialists, Mr. Burton and Miss Coffey. These also had the opportunity to discuss at length relevant issues regarding their own practices.
